Hi all,

I am Sachin Supekar, an HR Executive in a construction company. We are planning to conduct a financial internal audit. Does anyone have some example reports that they can send me, as I have no idea where to begin? I have done a lot of research on this and know what to include in the Financial Audit, but I have no idea where to start with the final reports that we would give to our executives. Also, any checklists, forms, and preparation lists would also be helpful.

I hope someone out there can help me with this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Sachin

Dear Sachin,

You should consult the Finance/Audit department of your company. They are the real people for conducting this task. Alternatively, you can also seek the services of professionals outside your company to conduct an internal audit.

Dear Sachin,

As advised by Mohit, you should approach the internal auditors of your company. Generally, financial audits are conducted by Chartered Accountants, Project Management experts, etc.

A financial audit will focus on four basic factors of the business: the consumption of materials, money spent, man-days used to complete the project, and the utilization of machinery. The audit report will provide insights into the budgeted usage versus the actual usage. This information will be beneficial in planning future projects, reducing quality problems, and enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees through training.

I conduct training programs on Purchase and Inventory Management. If you wish, I can audit your purchase and stores department. One of my clients is the fourth-largest infrastructure company in India, with a turnover of Rs 5,600 Crores for FY 2010-11. I have a good understanding of how construction companies operate and the challenges faced by purchase and stores professionals in the construction or infrastructure industry.

Thanks,
