Please let me know if there is any litmus test we can use to measure employee loyalty and employee satisfaction. As far as I know, it is based on individuals' perceptions. It is not only a difficult aspect for HR professionals but also for all the line managers.

Hi, I read your query on the measurement of loyalty and satisfaction! It is extremely difficult to quantify the two, more so loyalty. Loyalty to an organization varies with the type of organization and the level of the employee. Naturally, an organization in the volatile segment of the industry/market may require a different level of loyalty than an organization of a not so volatile and fast-changing nature. A CEO would naturally be required to be more 'loyal' than possibly a junior executive. To put it rather plainly, loyalty in the corporate world is purchased in a sense, by pay packages, an excellent work environment, fair and equal opportunities to rise, and the use of mature and progressive soft skills. Infosys and Amul are sterling illustrations of loyalty and satisfaction. It goes without saying a satisfied employee is a loyal one. There are no tests to determine the 'quantity' of both, but how well an organization stands together in adversity is a fair indicator of both. On a tangent, there is a view that loyalty does not have degrees; you are loyal or you are not. There are no shades in between.
