Resignation Notice as per Appointment Letter OR Separation Policy
Dear Seniors,
I am working as a Senior HR Executive in a telecom company for the past 1.6 years. I have recently received an offer from an International BPO for an HR Business Partner role, and I now wish to submit my resignation notice to the current organization.
I kindly request your assistance in providing valid reasons for serving either a one-month notice period, as per my appointment letter issued at the time of joining, or a two-month notice period, as per the grading system outlined in the separation policy announced last month.
Your guidance on acceptable and reasonable justifications for both notice periods would be greatly appreciated.
Please help!

According to me, you have to serve a two-month notice period because you need to read the appointment letter along with the company policies. In most appointment letters, there is a clause stating that the company can change or modify its policies, which will be applicable to all employees.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

White Eagle is right. In fact, the policy that came into effect last month would also have a clear mention of how the changed rule applies to Appointment Letters issued earlier – only the wordings may vary.

Dear Hemant,
Please clarify which policy is in place - your appointment letter notice period or Separation Policy.
If your separation policy is in place, then you have no option but to serve your 2 months' notice period.
If you have a choice between your appointment letter notice period and Separation Policy's notice period, then I would suggest that you go for the appointment letter's notice period.
I would also recommend you to talk to your HR team or boss for further clarification.
