Dear Jensen,

Namaskar.

Probably, you want to become a psychometrician. Psychometry, mental measurement, and statistics are taught as special papers in every psychology department of the country at the master's level. Bombay IIT also offers courses in this field.

Certification is a form of quality control. Since there are hardly any unidentifiable psychometricians, there has been no significant need for certification.

Please feel free to ask any other questions as you please.

Mr. Mahanta,

Thank you for your quick reply. Your views are certainly appreciated!

In fact, I have been researching what I should be doing in terms of psychology. I have just stepped into a recruiter's position and think that the next step should be certifying myself with some additional degrees. Could you also guide me on what I could be doing?

You have shed light on a few areas that I need to ponder about.

Also, Mr. Mahanta, I come from a B.Com background, and I have learned that I cannot pursue a course in psychology unless I complete a 3-year Bachelor of Arts (university course) – something I am not willing to do! Is there another way this could be achieved?

Apart from psychology, are there any opportunities to study MBTI through a course? Do you know of any institutes or consultancies offering this?

Thank you.

Jensen.

You have shed light on a few areas that I need to ponder about.

Also, Mr. Mahanta, I am from a B.Com background, and I am given to know that I cannot do a course in psychology unless I go through 3 years of Bachelor of Arts (university course) – "which I am not willing to do"! Is there any other way this could be done?

Besides psychology, are there any chances of doing MBTI through a course? Where can I obtain a diploma/degree, and where is this institute/consultancy located?

Thanks.

Jensen.

Thanks, Jensen, for your queries. Since you are a B.Com graduate, I assume you have a basic understanding of statistics. However, in commerce, the trend of mass behavior is important, whereas in psychometry, individual behavior and differences are crucial. In India, I do not think any certification program is available. However, I have casually noticed that there are online programs offered by certain foreign entities. In fact, the corporate sector is more concerned about competency rather than formal degrees or diplomas. Therefore, please conduct an online search for:

Online courses in psychometry and psychology.

I am confident you will find numerous websites.

Just remember, practical exercises on test standardization, data collection, and reporting are essential. For that, you need to work with experienced individuals. If you maintain your motivation, I believe there is a significant need for an Indian psychometry industry.

Please feel free to ask any other questions as you please.

Hi, My understanding is that you must have a Master’s Degree in order to be certified in MBTI. Have you though of using the DiSC Personal Profile Sysyem?

Hi all,

I am currently pursuing my Master's in Psychology from Delhi with a specialization in organizational behavior, and it is a two-year course. If you want to apply for this, there is no precondition that you need to have a Bachelor's in Psychology. There's an entrance test (predominantly psychology-oriented, but you can still prepare) and an interview for the selection process. We had someone in our batch who was from a Statistics background, so it is possible for anyone to join.

I am not too sure about MBTI certification and its pre-conditions regarding Masters in Psychology, but I believe one should have completed at least a PG before the certification.

If you have any further inquiries, please let me know.

Dear Susan, You do not need master’s to go for a MBTI course. If you have any psychometric valuation experience or have done any one psychometric assessors course you can go for MBTI. suresh

Hi Ambica,

Kindly send me your email address; I'll send you the details of my college, including the course structure, etc. However, since it cannot be pursued by correspondence, I am a little unsure regarding its utility for you, as you are based in Mumbai.

Hi Manish,

Thank you for all the information you have posted. It is absolutely relevant and useful. It would be great if you could please specify which institutes, in particular, are offering these services or where we can participate in these courses – basically, the source of information. This clarification would be really helpful.

Thanks and regards,
Pragati
