Hi, this is Prajitha here. I've become a new member of the CiteHR club and am working as an HR professional for a manufacturing concern. I am in need of help regarding policy-making. Could any of you send across an overtime policy of a manufacturing company that aligns with the labor laws of India? Also, kindly inform me about the cadre of employees who are eligible for overtime, whether it's the operators, managers, etc.
Waiting for your reply.

Overtime Policy Considerations
The overtime may be up to supervisor levels. Managers are paid for 24 hours, so they may not be eligible for overtime. As per the law, 48 hours per week is the standard working hours. Beyond 48 hours, overtime may be given or compensated in line with the organization's policy.
In our terms, we never take the whole week's total for 48 hours of working. The day finishes on that day itself, so we divide the 8-hour working pattern per day. Working more than 8 hours is considered overtime.
You can set a limit for overtime; it will be paid for the time exceeding 2 hours minimum for operators and 4 hours minimum for supervisors on a daily basis. It should be calculated for the whole month and included in the salary.
There is no limit for overtime; the overtime amount is also considered as earnings and calculated for PF and TDS. If you wish, you can set a limit on hours for overtime and the remaining hours as compensatory off. Alternatively, overtime can be compensated in money for operators and compensated leave for supervisors.
The compensation is based only on Basic and DA, where other perks are not taken into consideration, and is paid double in the case of overtime. Other perks may include washing allowance, entertainment, fringe benefits, medical allowance, books, and periodicals.
