Hi all, I am Shree. I have completed a Master's in Management in London, UK, and am currently pursuing an MBA in HR in Chennai, although my Bachelor's degree is not related to administration. I have three years of experience as a Customer Service Assistant and am relatively new to HR roles. I am considering doing SAP, but I am unsure whether to choose SAP-HR or SAP-CRM. Given my experience in customer service, SAP-CRM seems like an option. However, my goal is to transition into HR roles in my career. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on selecting the right option for my career.

Understanding SAP for HR Careers
SAP is the world's fourth-largest software, introduced by Germans in 1972, and falls under the ERP platform. Baan, Peoplesoft, Oracle Application, JD Edwards, and SAP are the ERP software mostly used worldwide. According to recent statistics, there is still a requirement for a 25-40% increase in SAP consultants across various modules. Currently, only 15% of consultants are available in various modules worldwide.
If you are interested in HR careers, you can pursue the SAP HR module. The SAP HR 4.7 R/3 version and the SAP HCM 6.0 ECC version have differences. Some new topics covered in the 6.0 version of ECC include ESS (Employee Self-Service), MSS (Managerial Self-Service), E-Recruiting, and CATS (Cross Applications Time Sheets).
Any graduate is eligible to enter the SAP platform, and domain experience provides an advantage in both subject knowledge and the work environment. Some companies are hiring MBA HR freshers with SAP HR knowledge to deploy them directly in projects after providing training for a certain period on a conditional basis.
Exploring SAP CRM
SAP CRM (Customer/Client Relationship Management) is an advanced version of SD (Sales and Distribution). In companies, many experienced consultants are shifting from SD to CRM internally. Presently, there are fewer direct recruitment opportunities in the market. Pursuing SAP CRM is a better option.

As you have good domain experience, you can pursue SAP CRM. Companies will consider you as an Associate SAP CRM Functional Consultant, and your domain experience will be an added advantage in your work nature.
