Dear HR colleagues,

The debates on motivation are myriad, but still, the subject is so fascinating. I am taking the liberty of posting a presentation I did to a welfare officers' gathering some time ago. The context and specifics might be different, but I thought there are a few universal take-homes.

Enjoy.

Hi,

The Mulla story goes like this...

One night around 8 pm, the villagers find our Mulla frantically searching for something near a lamppost. Upon knowing Mulla lost a gold coin, everyone joins the search to help Mulla. After 4 hours of vigorous searching, they could not find anything. One villager asks Mulla in sheer exasperation, "Are you sure you have lost your coin here?" Mulla replies, "Why no, I lost it near that neem tree." The villager then questions, "Then why are you searching here?" Mulla humorously responds, "Because there is LIGHT here!"

Friends, most of us are like Mulla only...we search for solutions somewhere else rather than in the problem area!
