Hi all, I am now assigned to handle the communications and activities in the employee engagement department - HR. I would like to know cost-effective activities that could boost the morale of the employees.

Objective: Boost the morale and increase retention.

Hi,

There are no ready-made solutions for this challenge. What you would need to do is network with others from HR who are in a similar industry as yours and get pointers. You must adapt and adopt those activities that you believe will suit your employees and work culture the best. Be aware that some activities will not produce the expected results but keep experimenting until you find a whole range of successful engagement activities.

You may also get some tips and will definitely benefit from the contents of the following inspirational and motivational blogs that contain a write-up on the quote of the day and also have practical tips to put the learning into practice:

Hi Jacob,

Thank you for the brief. I did not request any ready-made solutions. In fact, we already have certain activities in place, such as:

- Thank you cheques to appreciate employees.
- Long Service Awards for employees with over 5 years, 10 years, 15 years of service, etc.
- Other sporting activities as well.

However, I appreciate your feedback.

Dear Usha : Can you please share with me engagement activities, you conducted in your organization. As I also need to do so in mine. Thanks in advance. Regards, Pranali G

Here are a few cost-free activities I follow:

- Short games every week: Maybe a group event so that engagement is there along with a competitive spirit.
- Send puzzles and activities via email three times a week for them to solve.
- Suggestion box for anonymous tips and complaints.
- Short snacks recess.
- Letter writing competition.
- Treasure hunt in the office (here, instead of treasure, they have to search for hidden colored coupons).

Apart from these, there are many small activities that can be creatively thought of and implemented as well.
