Hello everyone,
I have a question here... I have completed my HR studies, but many suggest that I should learn Tally. I would like to know how important Tally is in HR. Is it used on a wide scale in HR?

Tally may be important to HR only if they want to REJECT a candidate from HR interviews. It would be like taking away the Accountant's bread and butter. Nevertheless, out of curiosity or if one really wants to be the Master of All Trades, then one should learn it; else, just knowing basic accounting is sufficient.

Dear Friend,
Tally is an accounting software. It can be used only by the finance department to enter the company/firm's day-to-day transactions to determine the accurate balances of liabilities, assets, cash, and bank balances. It is also mandatory for companies to maintain books of records such as Cash, Bank, and General Ledgers as per the IT Act and Companies Act. Companies can take a printout of these books through Tally whenever needed.
In the new Tally ERP 9.0 version, they introduced a Payroll module for calculating employees' payouts. To my knowledge, it is not as successful as their regular accounting module. I believe they may expand this module in their upcoming versions. If they succeed, HR people can use Tally software to some extent. However, these days, there are many user-friendly payroll packages available in the market that can be useful to HR professionals.
Wishing you all the best.
