Hello everyone, I am working on a training needs analysis and training effectiveness project at a reputed organization for my summer internship. I need some guidance regarding framing a training effectiveness questionnaire.

Dear Sharada, this is Balaji. I am also currently working with my summer interns at L&T. My project topic is "Effectiveness of Competency-based Training." I have prepared a questionnaire, but my HR rejected it, stating that it doesn't contain competency-based questions. Instead, it is for assessing general training. Therefore, I believe that my rejected questionnaire should be reviewed by your HR.

Training Effectiveness and the Kirkpatrick Model

Training effectiveness is always linked to training needs. Google the Kirkpatrick Model for more information. A summary is provided below:

1. Level 1 Effectiveness - Regular feedback is used to assess participant satisfaction, benefits gained, facilitator performance, and venue suitability.
2. Level 2 - Conduct pre-tests before training and post-tests after training.
3. Level 3 - Focus on behavior change.
4. Level 4 - Measure business results.
