I would like to know what kind of industry you are referring to. Do you need a job description for a counselor (course advisor at an institute)? What other positions are you interested in knowing about? Is your comparison specific to a particular sector? Please clarify what information you are seeking.

Hi Tania,
Counselors are normally in the education sector, health sector, etc., with each one having to guide the prospective customer/student towards the services/courses the prospect should opt for. For each job, there would be a different set of job responsibilities. If by counseling you mean HR counseling, please clarify.

I totally agree with Ajmal about education counselors.
Education counselors/ Course Counselors:
Keep track of inquiries from various modes like emails, telephone, and direct inquiries during exhibitions and maintain a record of the same so that feedback can be taken.
Provide information about various courses to the students and guide them about the best course which will be suitable for them.
Maintain the record of the students joining the course and also keep track of the fees to be paid by the students joining the course.
Update the students about any kind of new happenings and developments in the courses so that the student is informed from time to time about any kind of information relating to any new courses.
If you want a job description for an employee counselor, it will be different from an Education counselor. An Education counselor aims towards the sales and marketing of their product or course.
