Hi Shreya,
I am new to this forum and am working on a project titled "Attrition and retention of contract labor." It is a research-based project for which I have designed a questionnaire. The questionnaire focuses on reasons why contract laborers join the organization, how long they intend to work for, and why they leave the organization prematurely.
However, due to the study's limited scope, the questionnaire I have created is also limited in its scope. I am unsure about the appropriate rating scale to use for the analysis and interpretation.
I would greatly appreciate your guidance in providing direction for my project so that I can execute it effectively.
Thanks & Regards,
Shreya

Hi,
I am Tusha, and I am pursuing my project on "Contract Labor Management." My concern is how should I frame the questionnaire for contractors, contract labor, and principal employers.
Please give suggestions so that I can frame the questionnaire.

Dear Shreya,
From what I gather from your post, you are conducting an exploratory survey. How large is the organization? Please post your questionnaire so that we can see what you have done to help guide you. You can attach it by clicking on "Manage Attachments" in the box below the message box.
Have a nice day.

Hi,
So far, I have prepared this questionnaire attached herewith. However, my colleagues suggested that it should be either close-ended or open-ended for better interpretation. As a part of the project report, I need to mention a research methodology for this project and provide hypotheses and interpretations based on that.
I have also attached the project guidelines, according to which I have to prepare my report. However, I am unsure about what to include in the respective chapters as per the project guidelines. Kindly assist me with this.
I have studied the above concepts in a subject called Research Methodology, but I am unclear on how to apply them to this project. Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have just another 26 days before I leave the organization.
Thanks & Regards,
Shreya

Hi,
A little more about the organization - it deals in pharmaceuticals in India. It employs contract labor in three broad categories, namely Diploma candidates, ITI candidates, and XII pass outs from mostly West and East India, and some locally, and other contract labor for housekeeping purposes. The problem here is that Diploma candidates often leave midway, rendering the training efforts by the organization futile. Therefore, the organization's need is to ensure that these contract laborers work for at least 6 months.
Looking forward to your reply.

Dear Shreya, you can make the changes in your questionnaire.
Questionnaire Modifications
Q1: Less skill level and less education level.
Q2: No idea about the duration of stay.
Q3: No specific reason.
Q4: No suggestion.
Q5: No suggestion.
Q6: Period of stay with the same contractor and reason for prolonged stay.
Q7: Whether staying with family or not in the workplace.
Q8: If the reply to Q7 is No, then please give the mode of sending money to the family:
(a) By Money Order
(b) By Depositing in Bank Account
(c) Contractor hands over the specified amount at my home.
In the body of the report, you can add a few lines from the Contract Labour Act, Welfare Measures, which will be more relevant to your subject.
All the best.
