I have one query!! The query is: Can we give Education Allowance to a person who is not married and does not have any children for the purpose of tax savings from their salary.

Hi Soma,

Yes, we can, but there are a few clauses to consider. If the person is asking for Educational Allowance for a child when he's not married, then he should produce documentary legal evidence that he's the legal custodian of the child.

Dear Vishal,

At times, an education allowance is given to the employee if they are furthering their education. It need not necessarily be for a child. In this case, the question of marriage does not arise. An employee can avail of tax benefits by taking an education loan.
