Internal training refers to training undertaken by an employee within the organization and conducted at the company premises. External training, on the other hand, takes place outside the company premises and is facilitated by instructors from external sources.

I would just like to add that there needs to be an extensive cost-benefit analysis before deciding on external training or internal training. In the case of a lack of expertise in the company, they can opt for outsourcing the program to a vendor who develops the plan of instructions, the venue, etc.
