An exit interview is a meeting between an HR personnel and a departing employee (a departing employee who has voluntarily resigned or been fired). In this interview, the HR representative asks some basic fundamental questions to the employee.
What is the necessity to conduct an exit interview?
The reason is to gather data for improving working conditions, retaining employees, and helping employers avoid costly litigation down the road caused by dissatisfied employees.
