Dear Peeyusha ji,
If any employee is absent on Saturday and Monday, this will attract an EL, and Sunday will be exempted. So, two days EL will be deducted. It is a general leave rule. However, it purely depends on the industry as per the leave procedures.

Our Senior Member, Mr. JS Malik, has given the right answer. However, Mr. Ponraj, please avoid such answers as most of the HR fraternity may look into the answer and may not find your response correct. HR personnel are meant to guide and not misguide the management.

Malikji is perfectly right, as usual. This is the legally compliant policy adopted by good companies and PSUs. However, many private sector companies, especially those that are small and family-run and do not have employer-friendly policies, follow the method as posted by Mr. Ponraj to extract as much benefit as possible.
