Dear All,
As per the leave policy in my company, an employee cannot take more than 3 days of Casual Leave (CL) continuously. However, an employee has only 9 days of CL and no other leave available in his leave balance. Now, he wants to take all 9 CL days continuously for his marriage. Can you suggest how to proceed?
Thanks,
With Best Regards,

Hi Pallavi,
Casual Leave is not a recognized form of leave. An official on CL is not treated as absent from duty, and pay is not interrupted. It cannot be combined with any other kind of leave. During a period of Casual Leave, if Sunday and public holidays fall, they are not counted as part of Casual Leave.
If your company's leave rule does not allow taking more than 3 CL continuously, then you can't allow the employee to take more than 3 CL. The only solution the employees have in the present circumstances is:
1. The employee can get 5 days by taking 3 days of CL if Sunday and Saturday are off.
2. The management can sanction Extraordinary Leave (Without pay leave) to the employee as per request.
Thanks,
