Dear all,

Being a very interactive forum, I would like to have information on various laws related to IT companies. Most of the laws in our country are meant for manufacturing setups. IT is new and also has a lot of foreign direct investment (FDI). What are the various laws that are applicable to an organization?

I too wanted to know the laws that govern IT companies. I would like to know regarding the topics below:

1. Laws for employment, termination, notice period.
2. Laws for leave policies, HR policies.

Please brief me in this regard.

Hi Smita and Abirami,

Regarding employment law, except for the Factories Act, all other labor legislations are applicable. Concerning termination notice periods, leaves, etc., the IT industries will be governed by the Local (state) Shops and Establishment Act, unless specifically exempted from certain provisions of the Act by the state government.
