I have a 3-year gap between my 12th grade and graduation. After graduation, I pursued a part-time MBA in HR and achieved a first class. I have 1.3 years of experience in recruitment at a consultancy.

Do I stand a chance of being selected by a corporate company despite my educational gaps? I completed a BSc in Computers, though I found it very challenging. Unfortunately, I was unable to change my field due to family pressure.

Please advise me on whether I have an opportunity to work with a corporate company. What explanation should I provide to HR during the interview regarding these gaps?

My first year admission was very late. I had only 4 months to cover the whole syllabus & practicals. As a result, I could not pass the first year. Unfortunately, I met an accident at the time of appearing for the 2nd-year exam. After this, I tried to move to commerce, but my family members told me to stick with this course. I was not able to clear all the subjects during my 3rd-year exam. Hence, there is a gap of 3 years.

Now I have 1.3 years of experience in recruitments & good academic records in MBA. Do I have any chance of getting selected with a corporate company? Please suggest.

A few career tips:

The only solution is to get a job and stay put for at least 3-4 years and grow within the organization. This will minimize the impact of the gap. During the 3-4 years, try to be active. Engage in important work within the organization to enhance your credentials. Also, strive to appear for professional certification exams. Do not even think about obtaining fake papers or documentation to justify the gap; it is not advisable. Keep your documentation honest and accurate throughout. Additionally, do not change your domain. Aim to remain financially secure - avoid taking a loan that might later push you to seek a higher-paying job.
