Hi All,
I'm Siny and I'm working with the HR of a company which is into Restaurant Management. Currently I'm trying to develop a rewards and recognition system for the restaurant employees (both front and back of the house).
I would like to know about the different non-monetary reward systems being used in the hotel/restaurant industry, above all how exactly are the desired behaviors being measured so as to award them with the appropriate reward/recognition. Any information on this regard is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards
Siny

Hi Siny,
For the first part of your query "I would like to know about the different non-monetary reward systems being used in the hotel/restaurant industry," the following also applies:
https://www.citehr.com/156627-non-monetary-rewards-employee-motivation.html
Apart from that, since you are a part of the service industry, you can also take a look into [link outdated-removed].
For the second part of the query, I'm sure other members would come out with what you wanted.

Hi Siny,
Your reply to Kavitha's response clearly shows that you did not do your homework, that is check the citehr for the required information. I also suggest that you search the web using Google and also give more details about the situation. For example, I would like to know the size of the organization and what system you have at present.

Hi Simhan,
The organization I'm speaking of has a size of 300-350. Currently, the rewards and recognition are being provided in an ad hoc manner. I believe that a formal/standard R&R system would help cover all the employees, and hence I can be sure that I haven't left out any employee when it comes to providing R&R. Moreover, I was instructed to focus on non-monetary reward systems.
I divided my task into 2 parts: 1st, what are the different non-monetary rewards that could be provided, and 2nd, how can I measure each employee's contribution so that the rewards can be provided accordingly. For example, a cook would be judged by the ticket timing, the number of orders he got right, but are there any more parameters that I could use to measure his work/contribution to the restaurant's functioning? Apart from the line cook, I need to find the same for the other employees like the servers, the hostess, etc.
Prior to posting on citehr, I did check on Google. I was able to put together a list of non-monetary rewards but could find very little on the second part. Can you help me with the second part, or do you think I need to change my approach to the entire situation?
Regards,
Siny

Hi Siny,
I do not know what your background is and how much you know about setting standards and measuring productivity, etc. The first step would be to draw a value stream map of the operation and involve the workers in setting KPIs. There is what is called the "internal supplier-customer chain."
If you need more info, please drop me a private message, giving details of where you are based, etc.
