Hi,

I am required to do a presentation to the board on how HR could really add value to the organization, especially with the upcoming economic downturn. There is no proper agenda given, and I am still struggling with how to deliver a good presentation. Can anyone help?

Hi,

You can prepare an agenda for the topic given to you. In the presentation, you can include the agenda of the presentation, which makes clear what you are going to deliver. Secondly, the core part of the presentation should be highlighted. Lastly, you can conclude your sessions with some facts and figures showing the importance of HR.

Hi,

HR is a department which includes everything, for example: PMS, Employee engagement, Recruitment, and organizational development. These departments all add value to the organization. Make a presentation on these aspects. You can illustrate the attrition rate of the organization, your strategies in controlling it, and inform them about the benefits. Show how effective your recruitment system is.

Hi,

Whenever there is an economic downturn, not only countries are affected but also companies due to fixed costs. The role of HR becomes very important in such situations. HR can work on improving the efficiency of employees, enhancing the productivity of the organization, and thus making it competitive to meet the challenges. This can be achieved through developing a more efficient culture and providing intensive, future-focused training.

Hi Leelily,

The agenda for your presentation is already there with you, and it is about economic downtrend. You can prepare a whole lot of stuff with this:

1. You need to tell about what it is, why it is.
2. In the next step, you can prepare stuff for improving this or dealing with this in your company. The present scenario - what it is. The future scenario - what you may like to see. That is how an HR should function. The steps to be taken.
3. Motivating factors for the employees - some good slide shows, how your company can deal with this.
4. What are the other operating factors that need to be taken into consideration for the smooth flowing of your company? The important people who are involved in the ongoing process - however small their position may be.
5. Concluding with some good inspirational quotes. What you think, what can be done. Any questions/queries.

Hope this will work out. First and most important - please once again have a recheck with your senior regarding this. :)

Hi Leeily,

Please understand the economic scenario in a holistic way and see in what ways it is going to affect your organization - the investments, business opportunities, etc. This economic turnaround, which we are experiencing presently, is not something that is common. Try to present to your management how this would impact the motivation levels of employees. Try to communicate to the employees about the present status of the economic crisis.

As suggested by our members, try to understand more about your organization in this economic turnaround context and devise plans accordingly. Effective communication to employees and winning the confidence of the management is crucial.
