Dear all,
We have an employee to whom, we did not paid Jan 2011 Salary, hence there was no PT deduction for him in Jan. however, in the month of February, we are paying him 2 months salary (JAN & FEB).
I would like to know, if PT will be deducted only for Feb month or we have to deduct for 2 months PT.

Even if you pay 2months salary together, the PT is for per month i.e. for each salary. Obviously if the employee worked for Jan and you didnt pay him, the onus is on you to pay up. Had he been on unpaid leave OR if his earnings is equal to or below the minimum salary slab of the respective state for Prof Tax, only then you can show that no PT was applicable. else in all other cases, PT would need to be deducted and paid to the govt.............rgrds

PT Calculation
you should have prepared the wage sheet immediately after expiry of Jan month with deduction of PT amount. You could not make the payment of that month is another issue.
I suggest you should prepare two different wages sheets for Jan & Feb. so you can pay the PT amount by two separate challans.

You have to deduct PT for two months as deduction is for every month's salary payment, whether you pay it every month or after two months. But only question you have to satisfy is whether the payment to be made falls with in PT category.
