This is a simple quiz for fast thinkers. If you feel you are a fast thinker, at the end of this you may learn something. Then again, you may not.

Are the senior members smart enough to answer them fast? Are the junior members smart enough to answer them fast?

Answer the first three questions fast. After all, you are a fast thinker are you not?

The answers to the questions are directly below the question, so if you DON'T ANSWER THE QUESTION FAST ENOUGH, you will see the answer and cheat yourself of any dignity.

-BEGIN-

(1) You are in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?

You are definately not in first place. If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second.

(2) If you overtake the last person, then you are…?

You are definately not second to last. It is impossible to overtake the last person.

(3) Do this math in your head. Let's see how good of a fast arithmetic thinker you are.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000 . Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10. What is the total?

I got 5000.
However, when I use a calculator... the answer is actually 4100.

-END of Fast Section-

Now for the last question. If you have learnt anything from the above questions, it is that fast thinking often promotes CARELESSNESS.

Answer this final question carefully, and take your time.

-Final Question- Be Careful

Mary’s father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?

Did you take your time? Did you read the questions carefully? If so, you would have arrived at the right answer.

It is definately not Nunu.
It is definately "I don't know"

Due to process of elimination, and reading the questions carefully and not thinking too fast, the fifth daughter's name is Mary.

I learnt something about thinking fast from this. I still know that in many situations, fast thinking is required. However, thinking fast can result in many undesirable results.

Hence train yourself to think THROUGHLY, and as FAST as possible without obtaining the wrong results.

We don't want to just be fast thinkers, we want to be Fast and Correct Thinkers. I, for one, will never stop striving to acheive this.
