ISO 14001:2015 is the latest international standard for Environment Management System. It is a risk-based standard. ISO 14001:2015 addresses not only "prevention of pollution" as addressed by the previous version. It talks about "protection of environment". Another salient feature is its reference to "life cycle perspective" while addressing the aspects as well as the operational controls for the aspects consistent with this life cycle perspective. This, in short, addresses the need for a cradle-to-grave (origin to end) view of the activities, processes, products and services that affect the EMS.
