The Payment of Wages (Amendment) Act, 2017 has been passed on 15th Feb, 2017, with retrospective effect (w.e.f. 28th day of December, 2016.) by repealing Payment of Wages (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016. The Payment of Wages (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016 was passed on 28th December, 2016, which contains same provisions which are given in this amendment act, 2017.

This amendment is of not much benefit to employees.
1.The Act is not applicable to employees with salary above Rs 18000/pm.
2.Appropriate govts have to specify each and every establishment where the amendment is applicable, ie which establishment shall pay through bank.
3.It would have been better if govt had power to apply it to class of establishments.

In the recent change in Payment of Wages act was that, wages shall be paid either thru cheque or crediting into employee bank according by the employer. However as mentioned by few friends that wages has been revised to 18000/- per month. Is there any gazette notification please share.
