Do we require to take prior permission for giving Overtime to workmen ?
If yes, what is procedure for getting such permission.
Is any separate permission required to be taken in case working is made to 12 hrs continuously.

Dear Member
Pl. note
For Over Time wihtin the prescribed limit that is Not more than 10 hours including OT per day, not more than 60 hours including OT and not more than 50 hours OT in a quarter, you need not take permission. Please remember you need to pay Over Time twice the normal hourly rate.
Chief Inspector of Factories/Joint Director of Health & Safety can grant exemptions relating to daily working hours which shall not be more than 12, spread over 13 hours, weekly hours which shall not be 60 including over time and quarterly over time will not exceed 75 hours. But these exemptions are solely depend on the discretion of the authority. Normally aujhtoprities take decsiion based on nature of indistry ..wether it is continus one where contonius manning is critical from production and/or safety view point.
Hope this will help...
