Dear Friends & Seniors,

As we all know that the Cheque submission date of ESI Challan as per the ESI Act 1948 is 21st day of the succeeding month of wages paid month. Now we are generating the ESI Challan through online, so the ESIC receive the information of Challan Creation date, Challan Amount Received Date, (i.e. Cheque Realization / Clearing Date) in the information summary sheet from their side. ESIC not able to find out the information of Challan submission date at SBI bank by their online login.

As we are submitting the ESI Challan by Cheque on 21st Day of the month to the Bank as per the ESI Act, but Bank takes 2-3 days days to transfer the Challan amount in ESIC Account. As ESIC not receiving the submission date information, due to no requirement of Hard copy half-yearly return, through which ESIC verified the submission date earlier. In this case ESIC is charging penalty for delay in payment as per the days wise.

Now ESIC is suggesting that deposit the ESI Challan cheque before 3-4 days of the Due Date i.e. 21st Day of the month, so that ESIC receive the amount in their account before or on due date. ESIC also provides Online payment option through (SBI Current Bank Account). Employer can transfer through Online on the due date also as they amount will be transferred on the same day.

Ours organization is covered under esi. Recently an employee joint in our organization who is an ex military man. He availed ECHS(EX-Service man contribution health scheme) and submitted a written request to exempt him from esi contriibution. Is it possible to do so? if yes then what is the procedure to do so?
