Usually no approval is required. If at all it is needed- for Factory it should be from Factory Directorate and in case of S & E it is from - S & E Directorate. In either case write one letter stating the fact and not to repeat it future other than extreme emergency.

First examine which of the Act is applicable on your establishment & then see how much OT hours are allowed in any one quarter & if you are to have more of OT against this prescribed limit from any the worker/employee, then see whether any increase OT is allowed after taking permission from the prescribed Authority.
