Hi,
My PF application has been processed by the concerned PF office, and the cheque has been sent to my bank. The bank says it has not received the cheque, while speed post has confirmed the delivery of the same.
My first question is, in such a situation, can the cheque/payment instrument be misused? Secondly, how do I address this situation?
Thanks & regards,
Amit

The matter seems to be a subject that has come out of the purview of industrial relations. If the PF authorities have confirmed that they sent the cheque and the Postal department also has proof of delivery, the cheque might have been misplaced at the bank only. However, the bank will not accept any responsibility. To trace the matter, you may have to take legal action. Lodge an FIR with the police and let the police inquire into the matter. As earlier stated, the matter does not relate to IR/PM.

Firstly, you may give intimation to the PF Dept. to stop the payment against the cheque issued by them.
Secondly, you may obtain a Statement of Accounts of your bank account from the bankers to whom the PF Dept. sent your cheques, showing non-clearance of any payment against the cheques, and submit the same to the PF Dept. The PF Dept. will definitely issue fresh cheques in lieu of the lost one, but it will be after completion of six months from the date of issue of the first cheque.
