As per the Factories Act 1948, the daily working hours are 9, and the weekly working hours are 48. Beyond that, overtime is payable. The limit for overtime is 50 hours per quarter, which can be enhanced to 75 hours with the permission of the Factories Inspector. Post-COVID epidemic, the overtime limit has been increased by certain State Governments. You will need to check with the respective Labour Departments.
