Hello, I'm Kavyashree. I have joined as an HR Intern in a BPO company. They have asked me to create a skill and competency matrix of the employees. However, as a fresher, I don't know much about it. Could you please provide a brief explanation of the same?

Hi Kavyashree, You can refer to my skill matrix and KRAs posted on this site, and it will definitely be useful to you. There are two parts to it: one is the generic factors—soft skills like speaking and writing English, basic Maths, leadership, and commitment, etc. The second part consists of the section process operational skills department-wise, for which you need to prepare Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) concluding with columns like training required, commencement date, and closing date, with ratings between 1-5, 1 being low and 5 being the highest.

You have to seek help from your seniors. The first part—soft skills will remain the same for the company, and the second part will vary according to the departments created by your organization. Hope you understand.

Thanks
