One of our employees resigned from our service in June 2012, and before filing his PF claim forms, he died due to illness in December 2012. Our EDLI is covered by LIC. Now, kindly let me know if he is eligible to receive the EDLI claim.

The person once resigned and, upon being relieved, ceased to be an employee. Paragraph 22 of the scheme states that in the event of the death of an employee who is a member of EPF, the persons entitled to PF accumulations will be paid the EDLI. Under the circumstances in your case, no claim for EDLI will be entertained.
