I am posting an exercise on the concept of 'English through pop music.' I hope you all enjoy it. This is based on the song 'Opposites Attract' by Paula Abdul. You can download the song from the internet.
Match the pairs that show incompatibility and then check answers while listening to the song (Use the empty column to fill in your choices).
Also, guess ahead which lines are sung by the female voice and which by the male, and of the pair which part occurs first in the song. Discuss reasons for this. The discussion elicits answers from the learners about the rules of cohesion and draws their attention to the use of cohesive devices.
