If an employee has Saturday and Sunday off, then they remain absent on Monday, how will the leave be calculated— as 3 days or only for Monday?

Leave Calculation Query

Is the deduction of LTA from salary legal or not? Because LTA is given by the company, if I am not wrong. Please solve my above query.

Dear Gaurav,

If an employee has Saturday and Sunday off, then if they remain absent on Monday, how will the leave be calculated - as 3 days or only for Monday? Also, is LTA deduction from salary legal or not? LTA is provided by the company if I am not mistaken. Please solve my above query.

Dear Shivaji,

The rule you are referring to is called a suffix or prefix. In your case, if an employee takes leave on Friday and also takes leave on Monday, then they will be marked on leave from Friday to Monday, i.e., for 4 days. However, if the employee attends the office either on Friday or Sunday, then only one day of leave will be considered.
