In simple terms, as you won't like to easily change your habits developed over decades, the employees of an organization, having been accustomed to certain environments, processes, and culture (may that be in their own interests), usually don't want to accept any change in the organizational culture, structure, work processes, etc., and can revolt against management decisions to implement any major change, which can result in disaster as well.

So, any change has to be done in a very planned and gradual manner without hurting the sentiments of employees. In other words, it is a difficult and time-consuming process.

Change Management is a process of managing change within the organization. This change can be in processes, business, structure, vision, goals, etc. The role of HR is very critical as a change agent, as they will have to ensure the smooth transition from one state of the organization to another level, without affecting the morale, motivation, values, and commitment of employees.
