Sources of Change

These could be any number of factors.

EXTERNAL
- Change in economic growth
- Change in market forces
- Change in government legislation
- Change in tariffs
- Change in competitive forces
- Change in needs/wants
- Change in lifestyle
- Change in demographics
- Change in technology
etc.

INTERNAL
- Change in corporate mission
- Change in corporate objectives
- Change in corporate strategy
- Change in organization
- Change in corporate direction
- Mergers/acquisitions
- Introduction of new products
- Moving into globalization
etc.

So, there are numerous forces that could cause changes.

To add on to Leo's list, it could be a change in self, which is a derivative of change in both the external and internal environment. This is critical. Other things change and move on, but the self is one subject that takes its time to think if I need to change and why and how, among many more complexities. Unlike the external and internal elements mentioned by Leo, which move on smoothly with change and keep adapting to the changed environment, human beings are the most complex elements of change. All the change theories are directed towards these complexities.
