Hello everyone,

This is Vedha. I am completing my Masters in HR and currently in the 1st semester. We have an assignment on Job Analysis. The question is: Why is it important for a job analysis to be conducted? What are the negative outcomes that would result from not understanding the jobs of those reporting to the manager? Consider any organizational issues.

Basically, I know what job analysis is. The problem is I don't have any idea of the negative outcomes of not understanding job analysis and also how it affects an organization. So please share your experience and viewpoint. If you have faced any kind of problem in your organization related to not understanding job analysis and any organizational issues related to job analysis, please reply to this email.

Thanking you,

Regards,

Vedha

Hi Vedha,

Personally, I believe the negative impacts could be:

- The right person for the right job will not be possible.
- It reduces the motivation level of the employees.
- The possibility for multitasking could not be understood.
- Employee development could not be achieved as the training needs cannot be analyzed.
- Performance standards could not be set without knowing the tasks to be performed for a given job.

Regards,
Lavanya.
