In the modern HR concept, sports and recreation are viewed as one of the strong tools to bind and retain employees in the organization. By organizing such events, employees get relieved from the monotonous job work, and management also gets a forum to understand the employee outside the purview of their work. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for employees to interact with their families. It can be utilized to bring harmony and blissfulness in the organization.

If you have time to do sports, do so. Otherwise, do not make employees wait after office hours and engage in activities they may not enjoy. Sports should be done during office hours only, not after office hours or on weekends.

I also enjoy sports. I play a lot of computer games on my PC or play games with colleagues in the office when I don't have any work. I engage in these activities without seeking permission from management.

In my company, we have an Oddball Olympics to foster the spirit of teamwork and family. We also have a soccer tournament amongst all departments played throughout the year. This initiative helps to lighten up staff on weekends and fosters the spirit of togetherness and teamwork.
