Hi team, I am Mohammed Zubair. I joined a company as an Assistant Store Manager on 6th February 2023 as a trainee. However, on 6th March 2023, my HR sent a message on WhatsApp asking me to come to the office on 7th March 2023. When I arrived at the office, my manager informed me that the company is not suitable for me and that they do not want to invest in me any further, so they requested my resignation. I had left my previous company relying on this opportunity.

When I lodged a complaint regarding this issue with the labor department, they stated that I need to work in the company for a minimum of 6 months before they can address the complaint. They mentioned that they are unable to provide assistance, and I cannot demand compensation at this stage.

Please advise on what steps I should take and provide suggestions.

Thank you.

Hi, it is very unfortunate that you have been shown the exit door in one day. Hiring and firing in one day is not a good practice, even if it is at the trainee level. I'm not sure why they did so. I suggest you ignore that company and start looking for better opportunities instead of digging further into this case. Opportunities are plentiful, so do not confine yourself to this issue and keep moving forward. All is well!

The response from the labor department is unfortunate. It is true that as per your appointment order, there should be a probation clause stating that during probation, employment can be terminated without notice and without assigning any reason. However, having lodged a complaint, they should have at least inquired into the issue to prevent this kind of harassment from happening to other employees. It is good that you have left. Now, drop the issue forever because you have resigned, and there is no other remedy available. I would suggest that it is better not to work in a company as a trainee with a designation of Manager/Assistant Manager.

He worked in the organization for one month not one day. He has not shared T&C of appt letter. But all in all unfortunate. As rightly pointed out he should move on.
