One of my friends told me that his reporting boss is engaging in several malpractices at work, such as not coming to the office for many days, favoring and benefiting franchise partners more than the company, which is against company policy, and receiving free gifts from the franchise. This is disrupting company benefits.
He informed the VP about this via email, but the VP instructed him to remain silent and said there were no issues. Despite submitting several proofs to the VP, no action was taken.
Should he escalate these issues to the MD or not? Please suggest. The VP may perceive this escalation as negative and retaliate, even though my friend informed the VP first. Please advise.

Concern About Reporting Boss's Malpractices
One of my friends informed me that his reporting boss is engaging in various malpractices at work. These include not coming to the office for several days, showing favoritism towards franchisee partners over the company, which is against company policy, and accepting free gifts from the franchisee. These actions are disrupting the company's benefits.
He reported this misconduct to the VP via email with evidence. However, the VP responded by asking him to remain silent and did not take any action despite the multiple proofs provided by my friend.
Should He Escalate the Issue?
Should my friend escalate these issues to the MD or not? Please advise. There is a concern that the VP may view this escalation as a negative act against him, even though my friend initially informed the VP about the situation.
Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
