Hi Seniors,

I worked in a small company in an HR/Admin/EA role for 2 years. Although I worked there with basic HR knowledge due to the small size of the firm and the limited number of recruits or employees. I want to pursue a career in the HR field, but I have not taken any HR courses. I am feeling confused. Seniors, I need your suggestions to guide me on whether to choose this field.

Please help me out.

Dear Vijaytakp11, you have not mentioned your qualifications. Just because your last assignment was in HR does not mean you will pursue a career in HR. There are many job avenues available in Customer Service, Administration, Purchase, Sales, etc.

I have seen many MBA (HR) professionals working in other departments and excelling. Career success depends on the following factors:

a) Strong desire to grow
b) Speed of learning
c) Willingness to learn from other departments
d) Innovative mindset
e) Command over English
f) Reflection - avoiding the repetition of mistakes and, above all,
g) Staying organized - good record management practices

With a positive attitude and common sense, you can reach great heights in your career.

All the best!
