Dear All,

I am working on a leave policy for 15 countries across the globe. Please help to clarify - Does the leave policy have to be a standardized one applicable to all global employees, or does it have to be country-specific based on country labor law compliance?

Nowhere is it feasible to give a standard leave policy. Every country has its own prescribed norms for leaves, categorization, and days. You will need to make a customized leave policy for each of the countries and perhaps even states (some states have their own recommendations too!)

The only way one can standardize it is by giving the highest number of leaves of all the 15 countries to all employees, which would cause a strain on company resources. This decision needs to be taken by your company.

Hope this helps.

Warm Regards, Deena Jagasia

There cannot be a globally standard leave policy, which is just impossible. Each region/area will have a recommended leave schedule as per local government rules/regulations. Take an overall view - think globally and act locally. Unless the headquarters (HO) establishes a strict law that certain leaves must be on par with HO, there could be a few more leaves allocated to other areas, which can be discussed with your company heads.
