I am working in a manufacturing unit in Maharashtra. Our organization was established in November 2018. We have 20 contract employees and 25 payroll employees. We have not yet registered under the Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1953. Is it compulsory to register under the scheme? Please elaborate briefly. Also, please suggest how to register.

This is the fund administered by the state governments through their respective Labour Departments for the welfare of contributing labor. The contributions, welfare schemes, and methodologies are stipulated in the Acts notified by the respective state governments. Since the schemes vary from state to state, you should visit the websites of the Labor Departments of the concerned states. A copy of the Maharashtra Act is attached to my previous post dated 16.5.19 above, which may provide you with general information on LWF management.
