We are a Maharashtra steel industry factory. We had 7th and 8th as paid holidays for Diwali, and the 9th was a weekly off.
Please guide me on the payment of paid holidays based on the following conditions:
1. A worker was present on the 6th but absent on the 10th, and vice versa.
2. A worker was absent on both the 6th and the 10th.
Is there any notification regarding this issue? I need guidance.

Dear ANONYMOUS,
I understand you want to know whether the intervening days should be considered as leave/absence in case the prefix or suffix day has not been attended. There is no provision in any law or act. The company may have such a policy for earned leave, but in your case of public holidays, normally no such rule or policy applies. Absence will only be considered for the working day when the employee did not report for work.
