Oral intimation to an employee regarding a transfer from one department to another is valid. If the transfer is accepted by the employee but later they inform management that they are not adjusting well in the new department and wish to leave the job, while also requesting three months' salary, what action will management take against such an employee?

Interdepartmental transfers are always done by written communication to the employee, the old department, the new department, and the finance section, etc. Oral instructions can create misunderstandings of this nature.
As far as the exit is concerned, it depends on the conditions laid down in the appointment order. The employee needs to be informed accordingly and advised on the procedure to exit. They can also discuss any issues with working in the new department.

Hi Chbhagat,
Here you have to remember one thing: the Management has offered the work to the employee, be it in the old department where he/she had been engaged or a new department. If the employee is not comfortable, he/she has to speak to them professionally and get it resolved. If the employee is demanding notice pay, Management can ask him/her to continue during the period and give the required notice, look for replacements. Management need not pay the notice period pay on this pretext.
