Hi, I want to know clarification on ESI. If a person draws a gross salary of 20,000 per month and is absent for 5 days in a particular month, resulting in a gross salary of 15,000 at month-end, does he come under ESI deduction? Please help me out.

Kind regards,
Pradeep.

No. Current ESIC limit is Rs. 21000/-. If an employee covers in ESIC then irrespective of his absence ESIC is covered. ESIC exemption is only allowed in April-17 & Oct-17. Thanks, Vineet
