Hello sir,
My name is Deepa, and I had applied for a Ph.D. in management at Lovely Professional University. I want to pursue a Ph.D. in marketing topics, but I am quite confused. Could you please suggest the top 5 topics? Additionally, if I am interested in exploring something related to Khadi within the marketing field, is it a feasible and trending topic nowadays? I hope my confusion can be resolved here.

Hello Deepa, I wonder why you have gone 'Anonymous'! The mere fact that you have applied to do a Ph.D. indicates that you have a Master's degree in Management. Did you not study a Research Methodology module during your course? Have you accessed the PowerPoint presentation on Research Methodology available at CiteHr?
First steps in choosing a Ph.D. topic
The first step in deciding whether a topic is suitable for a Ph.D. degree is to scan the web to see what others have done, how and why in that way, and to see if there are any gaps in the knowledge that you can shed light on. To obtain a Ph.D. degree, one should be able to add something new to the knowledge bank.
A simple search on the web led me to a project report at https://www.scribd.com/doc/21260793/...Project-Report.
More links are available at https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ma...p;amp;ie=UTF-8.
I hope, unlike some who sought such information but did not acknowledge the help or reply to queries, you will answer some of my questions and then tell us what you have decided in terms of the aim and objectives of your Ph.D. proposal.

Thank you, sir, for replying to my query. Yes, I have studied research methodology during my MBA. I know, sir, a Ph.D. is for filling the gaps in current knowledge, and as you told me, I will search whether my topic has been researched before or not. Actually, this Khadi topic struck my mind suddenly because my family is in the Khadi business, but I am not sure about this. I would prefer a topic that is limited so that I don't get lost finding something else. So, can you please suggest marketing topics, and I will surely let you know about my proposal.
Thank you, sir

Thank you for your prompt response. Please access the websites suggested by me and then tell me what you want to do. When doing a Ph.D., you start with a broad subject and then narrow it down. Without knowing the access you have, where you will be doing the Ph.D., who your supervisor is, and what his/her interests are, it is not easy to guide you. Did you study the Marketing module during your master's? I used to teach Operations Management and Strategic Management. Marketing is not my specialization.
