Wonderful presentation! Thank you! But, my two cents' worth is that while ability doesn't have that much to do with success, it is very closely linked to success in one fundamental manner. And, that manner is that each successful person always possesses the ability to be persistent, perseverant, and disciplined!
So, yes, in this way, ability plays a critical role in each individual's success - but like all things associated with true success, it is never overtly visible!

The word "Nothing" is a bit of a sweeping statement that should not have been used. I myself saw four people from the same management institute in one company—one person got six promotions in one year, and the others got only one. Later, I read similar examples in Talent Management Books. There are several variables in success: talent, hard work, luck, the right person at the right place, at the right time. To say that ability has nothing to do with it or that "Attitude is everything" is a naive statement made from selective experiences.
