Hi all, I am a management student pursuing my PGDM in HR. I wanted to know if someone can please tell me what the different types of leaves in an organization are, and also what the different laws governing the leaves are.

These are the details about the various kinds of leaves:
- C.L - Casual Leave
- P.L - Privilege Leave (Most companies have either EL or PL)
- E.L - Earned Leave
- S.L - Sick Leave
- Maternity Leave
Designing a Leave Policy
The leave policy can be designed keeping in mind the regulations as per the law; everything else is up to the company. Remember to outline the procedure for applying for leaves. Specify the number of leaves per annum, such as C.L should be a minimum of 7, etc. For new employees, generally, P.L starts after completion of one year of service.
