Hi,
IT companies normally follow this:
Earned Leaves: 1.67 per month, which can be close to 20 days in a year. Sick leave: 7 days in a year. Maternity leave: 3 months (this can be split - pre and post delivery). Casual leave: one leave per month (Not many companies have this). Bereavement leave: In case of the death of a close relation like husband, wife, father, or mother. It can be given for 2-4 days. The company needs to decide.

Dear,
There are so many types of leave in a company, but there is no specific leave for specific types of companies like IT companies, Telecom companies, or manufacturing units.
Categories of Leave:
PL / EL - Privilege Leave / Earned Leave - According to the Factories Act 1948, one adult person is eligible for one leave every 20 days or one leave every 15 days in case of a child. The person is eligible for getting the leave after working a minimum of 240 days in a calendar year. If you have not utilized this type of leave, it will be carried forward to the next year. However, many organizations have a limit on carry-forward, and the rest are encashed.
CL - Casual Leave - Total number of leaves as per the company's leave policies. It will not be carried forward to the next year or encashed. It will lapse.
SL - Sick Leave - Total number of leaves as per the company's leave policies. It will not be carried forward to the next year or encashed. It will lapse. Such types of leave require some proof like a medical certificate, etc.
Short Leave / Half Day, etc. - Whenever you are looking for a change, this type of leave is very necessary for you.
Maternity Leave - Total 12 weeks of leave.
If you need more information, please revert to me.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for the information. I have a query regarding PL/EL. I just wanted to know if an employee, in any case, has not completed 240 days, for example, only 225 or a similar situation, would he/she receive less PL/EL or none at all?

Dear Nishant,
The employee is entitled to advance credit leave in a calendar year. However, as per your question, you can give leave credit to that employee until the last working day of the month on a pro-rata basis if he has resigned.
